Course description
Essential Information
The Warwick History Department is recognised internationally as a centre for innovative and influential research. Faculty interests range widely, from early modern England to contemporary India, from the history of consumption to post-emancipation Caribbean societies. The MA in History allows students to draw from the strength and breadth of the Department’s expertise by constructing an individualised programme of study.
Students follow a theoretically and methodologically challenging core module on the practice of historical research, which both provides training in methods and approaches to historical study and also introduces students to a variety of useful research skills. Students in addition select from the range of MA modules offered by the Department to create an individual programme. These taught elements are complemented by a 20,000 word dissertation carried out under the supervision of one of the Department’s forty or so faculty members. The MA in History welcomes students into the rich research environment of the Warwick History Department through a flexible programme of personalised research and study.
Course Outline
Students take the core training module ‘Historical Research: Theory, Skill and Method’ and choose two options from all those available within the History Department.
