  • Objectives Future Prospects: - Successful completion of this course will enhance your career prospects, whether studied at PGCert, PGDip or MA level - It will be particularly relevant to teachers in secondary and further education, librarians, archivists, researchers and heritage workers - Attainment of the MA degree could lead on to doctoral research
  • Entry requirements - You will be expected to have a good Honours degree, preferably with a social science element, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience - Graduates from other disciplines (e.g. Humanities subjects) may still be eligible for entry - You should also have a good standard of written and spoken English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent)

  • Course description Summary:
    - The MA Humanities/Social Sciences provides a general framework within which students can pursue specialist pathways of study in Film Studies, English, Voluntary and Public Sectors: Policy and Practice, Conflict Studies, or in this case, History
    - By agreement with your course tutor, it is possible to study a combination of modules from other pathway routes
    - For History, you will have the opportunity to engage in a cross-disciplinary investigation of modern British history, while developing your research and presentation skills
    - Drawing on expertise in history and politics, this programme will provide you with an understanding of the relationship between key historical ideas and ideologies
    - You will examine social, political and national movements and struggles, from the 18th Century onwards
    - Explore the social and economic conditions in which they developed and their effects on the lives of ordinary people
    - With a thorough introduction to research methodologies and techniques, you will be able to explore chosen themed areas of study
    - Students will benefit from teaching and project supervision from internationally-recognised experts
