    The main options are:

    -German literary and cultural studies, especially 19th and early 20th-century.
    -German thought and intellectual history.
    -Modern German politics, society and history, especially post-war political culture and East-German politics.
    -German and Germanic linguistics, including spoken language research and dialectology.
    -Dutch Studies and Luxembourg Studies.

    We also contribute to interdisciplinary MA programmes incorporating a degree of specialisation in Germanic studies.

    In the MA in Critical Theory and Modern Languages, you can take up to two-thirds of your modules in Germanic studies, with a focus on German cultural and literary theory, and/or modern German literature.

    We offer optional German modules as part of the MA programmes in European Theatre and 19th-century Studies.
