Entry requirements
Entry Conditions We welcome applications from those with experience working in the media industries and from graduates of undergraduate degrees that offer practice. Applicants must already have experience in audio visual production and show evidence by a portfolio of their work. We welcome international applications who satisfy the University’s English language requirements. Scholarships are available from the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission and the Irish Language Broadcasting Fund. International students maybe eligible for British Council Awards.

Course description
The course is intended for those who need enhanced creative and production competence in relation to documentary practice. There will be a particular emphasis on creative practice in digital technologies, making the course attractive to both national and international students who wish to attain professional standards. The course is intended to provide training in research, production, post production, exhibition and distribution skills, as well as integrating a theoretical understanding of documentary history and production. The curriculum will be delivered in partnership with screen industries, through a unique combination of professional workshops and masterclasses.
The MA Documentary Practice course will be based in the School of Media, Film and Journalism on the Coleraine campus on the Northern Irish coastline, where it will access significant digital facilities made available by the School and the Centre for Media Research, as well as resources associated with the Faculty of Arts. The Media Studies group at UUC represents one of the longest established and most highly regarded centres for Media Studies teaching and research in the UK and Ireland.
The MA in Film and Television Management and Policy, the professionally accredited postgraduate Diploma in Newspaper Journalism and the MA in International Media Studies are already based at Coleraine, creating a stimulating intellectual environment. This MA can also be used as a pathway to a PhD by Practice.
Duration and Mode of Attendance
Full-time and part time (day classes only)
One calendar year, full-time, normally two years part-time.

• Practice Dissertation
