Cultural Tourism is one of the most important and rapidly expanding economic and social phenomena of the contemporary world. To respond to the professional and intellectual challenges this implies for cultural practicioners, destination managers, heritage site managers, museum curator, policy makers, planners and academics, the Centre for Cultural Change as part of Leeds Metropolitan University is able to draw upon a wide range of academic and professional knowledge, expertise and experience relating to tourism, culture and related fields. Collectively, and through our international network of partners and contacts, we have access to a significant body of knowledge concerning tourism and culture.
This Master's qualification in Cultural Tourism focuses on tourism and its relationships with different concepts and expressions of culture. The course will prepare you for leadership roles in the diverse sectors which constitute international cultural tourism. It is designed to meet the sector’s needs for critical and reflective practitioners who possess an understanding of how theoretical ideas may be applied to professional contexts.
The MA comprises of 180 credits over 12 months. All modules combine lectures by staff and visiting specialists, with small or whole group sessions.
