LLM (Top-up)

  • Objectives This top-up route allows you to develop knowledge in a specialist area of your choice and is suitable for those who have not yet secured a training contract or pupillage, as well as those looking to enhance their career prospects.

    This 180-credit bearing award is obtained after completing the Research Methods module and with the submission of a dissertation, supported by a supervisor and personal tutor.
  • Entry requirements You should have successfully completed either the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Vocational Course (BVC).

  • Course description Key points

    It may be possible to complete your Master of Laws top-up in as little as 12 months.

    You will be required to attend two 1-week sessions, which are scheduled for September and February.

    Future prospects

    The LLM top-up will enhance the career prospects of those already working in legal practice as well as those who have not yet secured a training contract.

    Upon completion of the course you could also consider further study at MPhil/PhD level.
