Course description
There is a demand among students for more flexibility in the design of their Masters programme. The purpose of this course is to allow students to tailor their knowledge in an area of law of interest to them and enhance their career opportunities.
Within the range of modules available, students can choose those best-suited to their own personal development or career aspirations. Depending on the specified Masters they wish to achieve, some modules will be core, with the balance of credits gained from optional modules.
For a specialist Masters in Commercial Law, students will study the specialist modules listed below and base their dissertation on a specific area of Commercial Law.
Course Content
You will study the following compulsory modules, plus two modules from a list of options:
* Contractual and Tortious Obligations
* Commercial Law and Practice
* Intellectual Property Law
* Research Methods
* Dissertation
How To Study
The course will be studied through a combination of lectures, workshops, tutorials and self-directed learning. The dissertation will
require extensive research and innovative thinking by the student. It is proposed that the programme be offered both full-time and part-time.
Full-time attendance will start in September and will involve studying all six taught modules, together with completion of the dissertation (due in the September of the following year). Part-time attendance will be over either a two-year or three-year programme of study. Students undertaking the programme over two years will complete the six modules in Year One, with the dissertation due in the September of the following year. Students who undertake the programme over three years will complete three modules in Year One and three modules in Year Two, with the dissertation due in Year Three.
