The MSc in Lean Operations is a two year part-time programme, modular in the first 15 months (Part 1) when students attend eight one week modules, most of which take place at participants' sites throughout the Wales and England.

There are also requirements to attend up to four presentation meetings. During part 2, participants undertake a dissertation, most probably related to their place of work. There is a requirement to attend a short research methods course at Cardiff, and to participate in four presentation sessions. More detail is given in the course handbook issued at the start of the course.

During the first part, participants are assessed by means of assignments, which are written after each module, and by class tests, held on the morning of the following module. At the end of Year 2, participants submit a 20,000 word dissertation.

Two pathways are available, one of which is production, operations and manufacturingbased, the other of which is service-based. It is anticipated that most participants are sponsored by their organisations, and all should have the support of their organisation.
