This short course is designed to give an overview of the role and responsibilities of a supervisor, developing skills and knowledge to enable employees to function and communicate effectively in this role. The course examines the need for supervisors as part of an organization’s structure as well as the role of the supervisor as a teacher, introducing techniques for passing on skills and knowledge to other employees and methods for dealing with barriers to learning. Finally, the course looks at team leadership, introducing different types of teams and their purpose as well as exploring ways that a supervisor can effectively lead a team to achieve organizational objectives.
