Suitable for graduates in planning, architecture, engineering, management or other suitable disciplines, or for mid-career professionals working in planning, development or related fields. The course is appropriate for international students, as well as for UK students interested in comparative planning.
For students whose first language is not English, one of the following is usually required: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 575 (232 for computer-based).

Course descriptionCourse Description:
The course aims to provide a broad education in international planning and development, enabling students to acquire the knowledge and critical understanding to make a significant contribution to the management of human settlements and urban systems.
The course is divided into two parts. Part 1 which includes the core and option modules and Part 2 which requires the preparation of a dissertation on a chosen aspect of planning and development.
The course focuses on issues relating to the growth and development of emerging cities and on planning practice and the management of urban change. It provides a foundation for understanding processes of urban growth, economic development, globalisation and space and society, within different political, cultural, economic and environmental contexts.
Assessment:
The course is assessed through a range of coursework, including seminar papers, reports and project work.
