Objectives
The International MBA is a full-time programme that offers you the opportunity to study the core management disciplines at Nottingham, followed by a wide choice of elective modules offered by partner institutions in overseas countries. This means that within one MBA programme, you will have the chance to experience two different business and social cultures, and possibly to enhance your foreign language skills. The core modules are the same as the core of the General MBA and course members attend classes with the General MBA. The selection of elective modules will differ according to which overseas business school is attended. Up to date information on the overseas business schools available can be obtained from the MBA Office. The elective modules are normally taught in English, but foreign language modules may be possible if you are already fluent in that language You will return to Nottingham in the summer to complete the group project or management project. All partner institutions are universities that already offer high quality MBA or equivalent level management programmes and currently include: WHU Koblenz, Germany; Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas; and ESC Rennes and ESC Pau, France. In addition to the partner institutions, students may also spend the international component of their MBA at the University of Nottingham campus in Malaysia (UNMC). Alternatively, students based in Malaysia have the option of undertaking their second semester in Nottingham.

Course Content
The International MBA is a comprehensive international management programme. You will study the following core modules in order to develop your knowledge and skills in fundamental management disciplines:
-Accounting and Finance
-Management Information Systems
-Management Project
-Business Economics
-Managing People
-Marketing
-Operations Management
-Strategic Management
Our top class faculty includes leading specialists in finance, entrepreneurship, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, operations management, and risk and insurance. Therefore, we offer elective modules in these areas and many more.
The selection of elective modules will differ according to which overseas business school is attended. Up to date information on the overseas business schools available can be obtained from the MBA Office. The elective modules are normally taught in English, but foreign language modules may be possible if you are already fluent in that language.
Please note that all module details are subject to change.
A fundamental part of your development as a manager is participation in group work. Our approach to management training is that the most effective way to accelerate learning and management skills is to work with talented peers from many different professional and cultural backgrounds, combined with close interaction with the academic staff.
Finally, you will be asked to choose to write and be assessed on either a Management project on a business topic of your choice, or a group consultancy project (with an individual critique/analysis). You will return to Nottingham to complete this component of the course.
The MBA includes the opportunity of an internship – this offers an exciting challenge and the chance to develop your potential and focus your MBA on your career goals. Your internship experience can make a big difference to your post-MBA career, and your CV stands out, showing that you can put theory into practice.
Many organisations use internships to assess the potential of new employees. Several Nottingham MBAs have been offered jobs with the business they have worked for, while others found that an internship is an ideal way of gaining exposure to a new sector.
The Nottingham internship enables you to work on a project in the UK or overseas. We work in partnership with leading multinational companies such as Alliance Boots, E.ON, Experian, and Rolls-Royce, as well as with small and medium-sized enterprises, financial services, and not-for-profit organisations, and creative industries.
Internships take place during the summer and usually last about ten weeks. You can work individually or as part of a group, and are supervised by an academic member of the Nottingham University Business School who specialises in your area. You will also have a mentor from the company you are working with.
The findings from the internship are then written up into your MBA Management Project which counts as 60-credits towards your MBA.
Course Structure
The full-time MBA consists of a set of core modules, a wide choice of elective modules, and a management project or group project; it is taught over 1 year, full-time.
The core subjects ensure that all participants study essential areas of management.
The elective modules and the management project allow you to build on these fundamental areas and tailor-make your own version of the Nottingham MBA.
The semester based part-time MBA is very flexible and can be spread over two to four years. This flexibility allows you to fit the MBA around your work and other commitments.
Core modules are usually offered twice during an academic year, once during the day and once in the evening. To facilitate part-time working, most elective modules are offered in the evening every two to three years. Some elective modules are offered in a one-week intensive course, plus project work.
Part-time course members take the same core modules and have the same choice of electives as full-time MBAs.
Each module is usually examined by assessed course work and/or a two-hour exam held after the end of the relevant semester.
Course members can usually choose up to two elective modules from the School's other MBA programmes.
The final stage of the MBA involves an individual dissertation or a group consultancy project with an individual management report.
This course is offered at the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee campus in the UK or at our campus in Malaysia.
