ObjectivesThis programme offers you the opportunity to develop an expertise in both established and rapidly developing areas of law. Through the LLM programme you will: -Extend your systematic understanding of the law together with a critical awareness of current problems and/or research at the forefront of your chosen subject areas. -Enhance your intellectual, transferable and interpersonal skills as well as developing other postgraduate skills including independent research, the exercise of initiative, and critical awareness of current problems. -Improve your prospects of professional, commercial, business or academic employment. -The Law Society recognizes our LLM programme for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (16 hours per annum).
Entry requirementsThe LLM programme is for those who hold a law degree, or who have studied disciplines such as business, international relations or political science involving legal components. It is also designed to cater for people with a variety of interests, ranging from recent undergraduates who want to acquire specialist knowledge before starting their careers, to practicing lawyers who wish to complement their work with further study.

Course descriptionYou will write a 15,000 word dissertation worth 60 credits on a specific topic related to your programme, supervised by an expert member of staff. This will help you to develop your research skills, and is supported by a Research Methods and Skills course that runs throughout the year. The dissertation is submitted by mid-September in your final year. The Dissertation or Internship modules must be taken for successful completion of the LLM.
Careers
Minimum of a lower second class degree in law or a related subject or other appropriate qualifications and/or experience. Overseas equivalent qualifications welcomed.

Each module is assessed by means of an examination and one piece of coursework. You also write a 15,000 word dissertation worth 60 credits on a specific topic related to your chosen pathway, supervised by an expert member of staff.
