Information Assurance for the Public Sector MSc/PgDip/PgCert

  • Objectives Suitable for those working in the public sector who wish to understand the discipline of information assurance as part of business management. The course offers three paths of business management, resilience and forensic computing to allow you to explore the area appropriate to your career aspirations in greater depth. Takes you on to become one of the next generation of managers who can understand and manage information assurance in complex business environments. You will be taught by Cranfield University academic staff at the Defence Academy - College of Management and Technology and external lecturers who understand the issues of translating theory into practice. Lecturing staff bring a wealth of experience from both the public and private sector and understand the issues of translating the theory of information assurance into practice across a broad spectrum of organisational contexts.
  • Entry requirements Normally a 1st or 2nd class Honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Alternatively, a lesser qualification with relevant professional experience may be acceptable. Students whose first language is not English must attain an IELTS score of 7.
  • Course description The aim of the MSc is to enable individuals who work in the public sector to implement and communicate information assurance requirements to senior managers by using concepts and language that are understood in business terms. This necessitates sound technical understanding overlaid with an appreciation of the drivers and constraints within the business, and the knowledge to ensure the gap between the two can be bridged by the use of management tools, techniques and strategies.
