    ACCREDITATION
This programme is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) which describes Northumbria University as a centre of excellence. The programme has been designed to meet the full academic requirements for membership of the CIH. When students who have successfully completes the postgraduate diploma have sufficient professional practice experience they need only subsequently undertake the CIH's professional practice element (APEX) for full membership (which confers the designation MCIH).

The School of the Built Environment has entered into a Partnership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to promote excellence in teaching and the surveying profession. This means that students graduating with the MA and in employment will be eligible to begin the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.

    CAREERS
This is an excellent time to consider a career in housing. A skills shortage has been identified in the sector at the same time as the British Government has appointed a Housing Minister to sit in Cabinet for the first time in 20 years. It is therefore anticipated that demand for housing professionals, which is already high, will continue to grow and opportunities for career progression have never been greater.

    FUNDING
For full-time students the programme is recognised as providing professional training, and mature students may be eligible for Career Development Loans.

    OTHER INFO

Students on this full-time course study at the University for two semesters and then those who elect to take the MA are offered advice and supervision for their dissertation over the summer months.
