Entry requirementsThis MA is suitable for those with interests in any period of British history from the late eighteenth century up to the present. You can choose to focus on the type(s) of history that interest you most, including social, political, cultural, economic or intellectual history.

Course descriptionWhat will you study?
Modules cover events and recent debates in modern British history and equip you with the skills to complete a historical research project. Research training will be tailored to your particular interests, and directed towards your dissertation.
This dissertation is a major feature of the course and will be on a topic of your own choice. You can benefit from the vast range of sources London has to offer, notably the National Archives at Kew and the British Library, and access to cultural and policy-making figures working in the capital. You will also benefit from teaching and guidance from specialist modern British historians with excellent publications in this field.
