History (Early Modern) MA

  • Entry requirements This MA will give you a more profound understanding of the history of western Europe between 1500 and 1800. There is a particular focus on British and French history in this period.

  • Course description What will you study?
    You will follow introductory courses in historiography and in documentary analysis, which you will then be able to apply to your chosen specialist area within the political, social, intellectual or cultural history of western Europe.

    The focal point of the course is your dissertation, which will give you the chance to explore a specific topic in depth. Whilst a wide range of topics can be studied, there is particular research expertise at Kingston on the Enlightenment; the French Revolution; gender history; women and the family; and literary history
