Objectives
The fundamental aim of the Graduate Diploma in Finance is to facilitate progression to postgraduate study in the area of finance and related disciplines by allowing graduates in disciplines other than finance or financial economics to convert their knowledge and skills to those expected of an Honours graduate in finance/financial economics. The course also enables holders of those with non-UK degrees (that are not considered equivalent to UK degree standards) to upgrade their degrees to the level expected of a UK Honours finance/financial economics graduate and so facilitate postgraduate study. Those with third-class UK degrees can also upgrade their skills. If you do not have a degree, but have professional qualifications and/or experience at an appropriate level, then this course isalso suitable. Students benefit from studying in the heart of the City, and are able to use the University's Bloomberg training terminals which give access to a huge database of company information, news, financial instrument prices and valuation analytics.

Entry requirements
-a lower second-class Honours degree or higher in a non-finance subject; -or a finance degree from a non-UK higher education institution (that is not considered to be equivalent to an UK Honours degree); -or a third class Honours degree in finance from a UK higher education institution or equivalent. Applicants who do not hold a degree in any subject but who have professional qualifications and/or experiences at an appropriate level may also be considered.

Career opportunities
The course is specifically designed to enable you to pursue postgraduate studies in the area of finance, economics and related disciplines. Those who pass the course to the required standard (achieving a grade point average of 50% or above) will be entitled to admission to an appropriate course on the department's postgraduate programme.
Attendance and duration
Full-time: 1 year, 4 mornings/afternoons a week
Part-time (day & eve): 2 years, two mornings/afternoons a week
