ObjectivesThis programme provides an introduction to the world of publishing for graduates. It will enable you to gain specialist knowledge and skills required for entry into the field of publishing. Studies in core subject areas will also prepare you for entry to our postgraduate MA Publishing programme. The syllabus covers aspects such as commissioning, editorial, marketing, production, sales and distribution.
Entry requirementsAn applicant will be considered for admission who has already achieved an educational level equivalent to an Honours Degree. This educational level may be demonstrated by a combination of formal qualifications and/or experiential learning which, taken together, can be demonstrated to be equivalent to formal qualifications otherwise required. All applicants will be interviewed.

Units of study include: Publishing Environments which is an overview of the publishing industry, its structure and sectors and the functional aspects such as commissioning, editorial, production, marketing, sales and distribution; Magazine Production and Publishing which explores developments in magazine production and the impact of digital media on the production process. The Magazine Production and Publishing unit also examines developments in new media products and alternative channels for distribution of content.
The course also provides access to a range of elective study units which will allow you to choose a specialist area of particular interest. Electives currently include: Project Management, Media Law, Games Publishing and The Editorial Process.
