Goldsmithing Jewellery Workshop - Course

  • Course description Add that Midas touch to your jewellery making.

This new course offers you the opportunity to introduce gold into jewellery making creations. You may have already completed our Silversmithing Jewellery Workshop or possess previous experience, either way this course is ideal for students who would like to add that extra sparkle to their jewellery making.

Using silver, and gold of various carats and colours, your tutor will be able to introduce you to the next level using traditional Goldsmithing techniques. You will learn to recycle precious metals in order to re-model jewellery and avoid waste.

The course is aimed at beginners and experienced jewellery makers alike, however your hand tools are vital to your craft, and having the basic tools is a must (please see list provided). Experienced students should already have most of these tools!

The course commences with an introduction to jewellery design, traditional styles, the recycling of metals, and an introduction into Gemstones and their role within the jewellery trade. You will also learn about various types of stone settings and how they are made through hands-on practical sessions, looking at traditional settings and then incorporating them into your own designs.

Referring to all the knowledge and skills that you will gain on this course you will design and create a final finished piece of jewellery to the goldsmiths standard.

Create beautiful earrings or bracelets, impressive rings or sparkling broaches in this refined and elegant course. The results can be stunning in both colours and form, allowing the imagination to run rings around everyday jewellery pieces.

Through using your vision and increasing competence in hand/eye coordination, your unique pieces of jewellery will be sure to shine bright amongst the ordinary.

Applicants for this course should be aware additional material costs will apply. You will be expected to pay for all the silver Gold and Gemstones and any additional materials on a pay-as-you-go basis; the cost per student will vary on the amount of silver and gold used by each person, gold and silver can be purchased from the tutor at scrap price or students can use their own gold and silver.
