Course descriptionThis programme provides advanced training in the theory and practice of Geographical Information Systems and allied remote sensing techniques within the field of applications in geography, geology and environmental sciences.
Students study eight core courses in the first part of the programme which provide a foundation in Basic Remote Sensing; and Remote Sensing-related programming; case studies in Remote Sensing and GIS; and database management. Students progress to advanced courses.
The programme culminates in the dissertation, an individual piece of research focused on the application of techniques to a specific problem. This research may form an extension or development of topics covered in the preceding applications and case studies courses.
