The two year course will introduce you to the theory, principles and practices involved in a modern buying and merchandising operation within a fashion retail operation. It covers both theoretical and practical approaches relevant to current practice in the UK. It will introduce you to fashion buying and merchandising, supply chain management, product development, IT and communications. Initially you will study the market context in which fashion buyers and merchandisers function and the commercial implications for product ranges.
The curriculum will address practical and professional skills in communication, negotiation, and presentation. You will have the opportunity to tailor your course through the selection of elective units relevant to your current course of study.
At the end of the course you will undertake your Final Integrated Project, which will provide you with the opportunity to apply the range of skills and knowledge developed on the course to a simulated professional buying and merchandising scenario requiring research and analytical skills. Assessment is continuous and methods include written reports, case studies, essays, presentations and integrated projects.
