    Programme

This course covers the design, development and construction of accessories for bags, belts, and lifestyle accessories using both leather and other materials. The relationships between accessories and fashion trends are explored throughout the programme. It has been designed for committed learners with a keen interest in the fashion product. The unique aspects of the programme include the opportunity for you to develop your skills according to your career aspirations through negotiation of the elective units you select in year two.

Your own personal and professional development will be a key aspect throughout the course. The curriculum is delivered through credit framework units, one large unit of study per term supported by a smaller, often theoretical, unit. All units are explored through a project brief. Core skills are undertaken in specialist workshops equipped with state of the art machinery.

You will learn alongside the other courses such as FdA Cordwainers Footwear and FdA Fashion Design Technology for the more academic areas of study. This will enable you to learn from each other and gain invaluable insight into other disciplines within fashion design.

This interdisciplinary opportunity also occurs through project design research and critiques providing an enriching experience through greater understanding of the concept of the fashion industries. The course has strong industrial links and project briefs in each year are simulated work based learning units of study.
