Course description
A core course, Themes in Modern European Cultures, provides an overview of important themes underpinning the development and integration of European cultures, primarily in the twentieth century, and introduces a variety of approaches and methodologies relevant to their study. It encourages a pluralist, cross-disciplinary and comparative approach to various cultures, as do a number of option modules, which allow for a more detailed focus on specific European cultural topics and encourage the development of the critical tools needed to explore them.
A range of options are available, including:
-Time and the Novel
-Myths of Creation
-Negotiating Gender
-Aspects of Twentieth-Century History.
Please note: not all options will be offered in any one year. Options can also be taken from cognate MA programmes (some of these have a language requirement).
Students also take a 10-week research skills module.
