The course combines technical environmental engineering fundamentals with management based subjects such as environmental law, regulation, economics, impact assessment, reporting and sustainable development. There is a broad range of specialist Units, meaning that you can tailor the course to your particular career aspirations or interests and learn in depth about subjects of particular relevance to you.

    It is appropriate for any scientist, engineer or environmental manager who either has an academic background in process engineering or has relevant practical experience of working in an environmental engineering role in industry.

    Module details
    The course can be studied full-time or part-time

    -The amount of effort required by a student is measured in credits.  An MSc requires the completion of 180 credits, a Diploma 120 credits and a Certificate 60 credits.
    -The MSc course has two segments, the taught part followed by a dissertation project.  You study eight 15 credit Units plus the 60 credit dissertation project (total 180 credits).
    -The Postgraduate Diploma requires successful completion of eight 15 credit Units (total 120 credits). 
    -The Postgraduate Certificate requires successful completion of four 15 credit Units (total 60 credits).
    -Each of the individual Units is available to study as a shorter training course - a great way to learn new skills and enhance your professional development

    -Environmental Law and Regulation (15 credits)
    -Environmental Data Acquisition and Reporting (15 credits)
    -Resource Management for Sustainability (15 credits)
    -Aqueous Systems Technology (15 credits)
    -Aerial Emissions Avoidance and Abatement (15 credits)
    -Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation (15 credits)
    -Eco-Design and Green Chemistry (15 credits)
    -Economics for the Environment and Sustainability (15 credits)
    -Solid Waste Management and Valorisation (15 credits)
    -Environmental Impact Assessment and Planning (15 credits)
    -BAT, Quality and Process Optimisation (15 credits)
    -Environmental Health and Major Environmental Hazard (available from September 2008) (15 credits)
    -Dissertation Project (60 credits)

    Scholarships and bursaries
    Self-funded United Kingdom and European Union students enrolling for the MSc course may apply to the School for a Scholarship to cover 50% of their fees.
