Course descriptionThree modules are accredited by the institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and students who successfully complete these modules are certified by the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and successful studentd are eligible to apply for Graduate membership of CIWEM.
You will study the core modules as well as two specialist modules:

This progamme is has been developed to meet the requirements of individuals who are currently, or aim to be, employed as managers responsible for managig water resources, catchments and river basins.
The programme focuses on sound water management and the requirements of sustainable development. You will acquire expertise in the choice, design and implementation of a range of environmental management tools and methods including environmental impact assessment, integrated catchment management and environmentally sensitive river engineering.
Three modules are accredited by the institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and students who successfully complete these modules are certified by the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and successful studentd are eligible to apply for Graduate membership of CIWEM.

This programme is designed to give a firm grounding in the essentials of environmental management including environmental auditing, the choice, design and use of a range of environmental tools and methods including EIA, ERA, Lifecycle Assessment and knowledge of environmental policy and legislation. Students on this programme then have the opportunity to choose a range of modules allowing them to specialise in eg. biodiversity or study a more broad based set of modules preparing them for careers in local government, NHS and estate management.

Teaching methods
Good internet-based resources and on-line learning materials have been designed for the programme.
Each module lasts 8-10 weeks and starts with a 2 or 3 day intensive short course of lectures and practical activities.
Full time students attend the intensive short course for each module and also have a tutorial programme associated with each module.
Part-time students normally study four 15 credit point modules a year. Each module involves a two or three day intensive short course and associated coursework, supported by internet-based learning resources.
English Language support is part of the programme for all those for whom English is a second language.
Short courses can be taken individually as part of continuing professional development.
