    Course content

    Students on the English Language Teaching in Professional Contexts MA will:

        * Consider theory and practice relating to the use of English in professional settings, and the teaching and learning of English for professional life.
        * Develop skills in the evaluation and design of teaching and learning materials for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP), including Business English.
        * Explore the role played by new technologies for learning, teaching and communicating.
        * Analyse the written and spoken genres of specific discourse communities, for example business meetings, research articles and academic lectures.
        * Have opportunities to practise teaching and observe experienced teachers in a variety of face-to-face and blended learning settings.

    Teaching, learning and assessment

    Students can choose to submit either a dissertation or a reflective portfolio of their own professional practice. They may also complete the final stage off campus.

    Work Placement

    Candidates may be offered the opportunity to undertake a (salaried) ten month overseas teaching placement in conjunction with the final stage of the programme.
