Engineering Foundation Year

  • Objectives The Foundation Year provides an excellent entry to engineering if you have not studied the usual technical subjects required for direct entry to a degree course. It prepares students for Year 1 study in any engineering degree at Huddersfield. The Foundation Year is intended for entrants whose qualifications and experience, although acceptable for entry into higher education, are not entirely appropriate for normal entry to an engineering degree. You enrol at the outset for the full five year duration of an extended degree, but can delay your choice of a specific course until the end of the Foundation Year. The UCAS number for the Foundation Year is H108 Eng/Genfe. You should use this if you are undecided about your eventual choice of degree course. However, if you wish to apply for a single named course, then you should use the appropriate Extended Engineering UCAS code for that course, as published in the UCAS Guide.
  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements 60 points from A level (A2, AS) including an A2 level pass in any subject; or Appropriate BTEC National Diploma or Certificate; or Other appropriate qualifications and experiencewhich will be considered on an individual basis.
