  • Entry requirements Standard Entry Applicants should normally have, or expect to obtain before entry, one of the following: * a good honours degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or associated discipline. * a degree, or in some special cases, an equivalent appropriate qualification, supported by relevant work-based learning. Applicants should also have studied at undergraduate level in English, or have a qualification equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based). Applicants will normally have an Engineering undergraduate background, or Engineering experience and will be planning to undertake a career in management in an Engineering environment. Plus one of the following: * Other: There are normally two intakes for this programme each year - one in September and one in January.

    Students may choose taught modules from approved programmes within Northumbria University and combine these with a project to create their own tailored postgraduate programme. Modules selected must be at the right level and the study plan must be approved by the School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences.

    COURSEWORK AND ASSESSMENT
    The programme consists of a balance of taught modules and a project making 180 credit points in total. Students will normally take one half of the programme as taught modules, together with a project equivalent to one half of the programme (90 credits).

    Some modules will be taught conventionally, others may be taught using independent or distance learning materials, with the support of an appropriate tutor.

    Students enrolling in the programme choose their modules in consultation with the appropriate academic staff to produce a coherent study plan. The choice of modules for a student will take into account the student's interests, aspirations and previous experience.

    All study plans must include the Business Issues for Engineering Product Development module and the Project .
