    Emerging and neglected infectious diseases are a global concern that particularly impacts on developing nations. The study of the patterns of disease progression is extremely important in developing nations. Training in the development of effective health policy and health systems design innovation, will impact on heath and improved quality of life for millions. This programme aims provide advanced qualifications for biomedical, medical, public health and veterinary personnel. The programme instructs students in the practice of formulating and implementing strategies and programmes aimed at renewing and strengthening scientific knowledge development and building human capital.

    Learning Outcomes

    The programme will equip students with a comprehensive knowledge base in emerging and neglected infectious diseases while ensuring the outputs of contemporary scientific research are appropriately deployed. Training will be offered in surveillance, prevention and control of emerging and neglected infectious diseases. Courses in infectious disease biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, epidemiology, control and policy in developing and developed nations will strengthen expertise in areas of international health related to epidemic contagious, vector-borne and other parasitic diseases, food safety, food security and risk analysis.
