ObjectivesSpecifically, the course aims to develop the technical knowledge and skills of graduates for roles as design/development engineers in the area of electronic and computer based system design.
Entry requirementsEntry Requirements The normal entry requirement for a master's degree is an honours degree or equivalent qualification in electronic engineering or related disciplines. Other qualifications and/or experience that demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills at honours degree standard may also be acceptable. The normal entry requirement for the postgraduate diploma is a degree or equivalent qualification. A lower level qualification together with appropriate experience or, exceptionally, substantial industrial experience alone, may also be acceptable.
Academic titleElectronic and Computer Based Systems Design MSc
Course descriptionIntroduction
This is a broad-based course dealing with a range of design and management areas relevant to electronic system development projects. The course has been designed in collaboration with industry to develop graduates' knowledge and skills to meet the needs of industry and update or retrain for more mature engineers.
The emphasis is on developing the ability to apply knowledge and skills in modern design environments. The electronics modules focus on modern CAD methods, developing digital systems by refinement from a high-level language (VHDL) description, taking account of the need for testability. Our computer based systems modules employ modern high-level language programming and software development methods in systems incorporating microcomputers.
