Objectives* To provide students with the knowledge and skills to equip them for a career in industries related to electrical/electronic engineering and to play leading roles as designers and engineers, using modern technologies. * To develop student competence in applying IT and computer graphics to design and engineering problems. * To develop critical and analytical powers of the student in relation to the evaluation of computer software packages associated with design and engineering applications. * To provide the student with opportunities for shared multidisciplinary learning with associated aspects of design, engineering and computing (e.g. mathematics, management and business practices, IT and computer software analysis).
Entry requirementsEntry requirements Standard university entry requirements apply At least one A-level, or two AS-levels including any of: mathematics; physics; IT; or design technology. Plus five GCSE passes, including English. Mature students and non-standard applications welcome
Academic titleElectrical and Electronic Engineering, HNC/HND
Course descriptionThis programme is aimed at students with a strong interest in electrical/electronic engineering processes and a desire to undertake design work using computer-aided techniques.
Students should display a willingness to learn and apply scientific analysis to design or engineering problems. The programme will give students an excellent grounding in the underlying principles of design, IT, graphical communication, and scientific analysis.
