This introductory course explains how your camera works and teaches you all you need to know about how to operate a camera, in order to achieve full creative control in your photography.
Through a series of lectures, demonstrations and practical sessions, you will be guided through the fundamental principles and practice of photography. During the 10 weeks, you will spend 3 hours each session with your tutor, studying the work of celebrated photographers, and learning how to see and make more interesting pictures.
You will develop a basic understanding of camera functions including shutter speed, aperture, ISO, lens control and picture-making components, such as composition, framing, subject and lighting.
This course is the first in a series of Photography specialist programmes, and is recommended for anyone requiring a good fundamental knowledge of the subject.
What you need to bring
A film or digital camera with manual controls, a tripod is useful too.
