Objectives Career Education

The Diploma in Career Education is designed to provide training and development for people involved in any capacity with the teaching or provision of career education within an education setting. Career Education involves preparing individuals in the art of becoming effective career educators and / or advisers.

The course aims to develop a clear understanding of exactly what should be provided to the recipients of Career Education.

The design and delivery of the Career Education course is a joint venture between practitioners of Career Education and Guidance (CEG) and the University. This strong link with practice helps to ensure that the Diploma remains current, relevant and responsive to local needs. The course has a long history of success in this area of learning; operating since 1995, it currently has approximately 250 students from around the country undertaking its training.

Accreditation

This conforms with advisory guidance from DFES for the Training Career Coordinators.
Entry requirements an interest in Career Education and should be working in a related sector such as career education, guidance or personal development

an ability to study at HE level Two

interviews may form part of the selection process

English language requirements - IELTS 6.5 (min writing 6.0)/TOEFL 560 (min writing score 5)/TOEFL iBT 83 (min writing score 24)

The modules are delivered directly by academic staff at the University and through the University accredited Teaching and Learning Centres. All modules require two day blocks of university attendance, except the independent study project, which will only be for one day. Independent learning is expected in all cases.

Assessment
Assessment methods vary from module to module. Most modules involve practical application of the learning outcomes in a written assignment.

How do you study?
ttendance is part-time over one to three years at local centres or at the University. Module training sessions are arranged by the University's collaborative partners on a regular basis in response to demand and over a wide geographical base.
