General programme structure
This programme is designed for graduates or individuals who have completed CIPD Core Management or equivalent (such as the Certificate in Leadership and Management) and enables participants to develop the knowledge and skills required for effective human resource management.
-Our programme is student-focused and concentrates on developing your ability to manage current and future tasks within a human resources function. Underpinned by the principle of continuous professional development, the programme aims to develop the diverse range of skills required by human resource practitioners.
-The programme of study is a mixture of taught sessions and open learning, interspersed with a number of workshops. The aim is to experience a range of learning styles whilst developing your skills and a knowledge of human resources theory and practice. All the elements will form part of your continuing professional development.
The programme can be taken over two years on a part-time day release basis of full time over a year. Part-time students attend on Thursday afternoons and evenings. This programme meets the requirements for Core Personnel and Development and the elective elements of the CIPD Professional Qualifications scheme.

People Management and Development
This module will present the key elements of people management and development in a mature and reflective manner. the main objective of this module is to ensure that you offer informed advice and effective solutions on people management and development issues. You will develop the skills and knowledge required to be able to be recognised as a competent and effective professional.
People Resourcing
The aim of this module is to develop the ability to demonstrate the ways in which effective people resourcing strategies and practices can enhance the successful operation of the business.
Employee Relations
Good employee relations are often invisible, but rarely unplanned. This module will examine what makes for effective employee relations in a number of different contexts and, critically, the role of the human resources professional plays in it.
Learning and Development
This module will ensure that you fully grasp the importance of the contribution continuing employee development has on the strategic development of organisations. You will study best practice examples to identify how different organisations use their learning and development strategy to contribute to organisations to organisational goals.
Employment Law
Timely and accurate advice of existing and proposed legislation from a number of legislatures can make the difference between an employer acting within or outside the law. This module will cover principles and practice of giving legal advice as well as the statute and case law which underpins that advice. This will include employment law, information and intellectual property law and health and safety law.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Portfolios
The Postgraduate Diploma contains two portfolio modules. Successful completion of these modules will demonstrate an understanding of, reflection on - and expertise in - skills identification and develpment linked to organisational and personal objectives.
Management Report
This part of the Postgraduate Diploma allows you to demonstrate your professional competence within personnel and development. You will plan and design a project which demonstrates awareness of strategic issues within a chosen organisation and to propose improvements with reference to contemporary thinking, practice and primary research.
