Objectives
This degree prepares you to meet the cultural demands of the interactive media industry by offering a solid grounding in digital media as well as specialising in a particular area related to your research and future career interests. The course provides hands-on experience in designing, production, creating and exploring current issues and developments in the digital media industry, with the possibility of a work placement in a relevant area.

Course description
What will you study?
You will examine the histories, institutions, technologies, forms and meanings of conventional new media, and become familiar with key theoretical and aesthetic concepts developed through practical and analytical assessments. The course approaches conceptual, intellectual and subject-specific skills from at least three vantage points, defined broadly as ‘technical’, ‘digital arts’ and ‘analytical-theoretical’ approaches.
You will examine fundamental theoretical questions about digital media, gain a critical understanding of the principles and experiences of interface design, study the professional and practical considerations of digital media production, explore and uncover telecommunications technologies that help to provide a rich online experience, and consider present and future convergence technologies.
