Entry requirementsEntry requirements: A Lower Second class honours degree or below, or the overseas equivalent, is required for entry on to the Postgraduate Diploma, with possible upgrade to the MRes during the programme.
This programme provides students with critical knowledge of research methods and advanced theory in socio-legal studies. The programme consists of six compulsory core units and two further optional course units. The core units are:
-Researching Social Issues;
-Socio-Legal Research: Thoery and Methods;
-Evaluating Policy & Practice;
-Sociology of Law;
-Qualitative Research Methods;
-Introduction to Statistics & Data Analysis.
Optional course units include Surveillance, Crime & Criminal Justice; Corporate Environmental Responsibility; Risk & Society: Law, Security & Justice; Law & Development; Economics For Lawyers; and Financial Crime.
The programme is assessed mainly via written coursework.
