Craft of Editing Course

  • Objectives Upon completing this course, you will:

    • Understand the role of the editor

    • Understand the usage of language and grammar in editing

    • Have learned different approaches to editing drama or documentary

    • Understand the role of music and sound

    • Understand timing and the use of effects

    • Have gained a better understanding of structure and storytelling

    • Know how to put together a shot sequence
  • Entry requirements Students should be Mac or PC literate and fluent in English and have a good understanding of Final Cut Pro.

    The aim of this course is to give you a greater appreciation and understanding of the craft of editing and the role of the editor. With an historic perspective and using a hands on approach, you will be guided through the creative process including: the importance of structure and story telling; editing language and grammar; music and sound effects. Material to edit will be supplied throughout the course.
