Entry requirementsWho is this course for? Young people aged 16-18. What do I need to get on the course? You must satisfy the general entry criteria for A-level courses which are based on your GCSE results general entry requirements for AS-levels There are no extra formal qualifications needed for this course but you will need enthusiasm for photography with a curiosity about the visual world and a desire to represent it in various and imaginative ways. You should be prepared to pose for each other and generally cooperate in the taking of images.

Course descriptionWhat is this course about?
Providing an insight into the history and current practice in photography as a fine art. Experimenting with a variety of techniques to transform the image including the use of Photoshop. Developing your critical faculties and capacity to rationalize your output. Take a look at a gallery of coursework produced by students on this course.
What will I study?
The emphasis on this course is in developing a sense of what makes an effective image, understanding the historical development of the photograph and its impact on society and our understanding of ourselves. You will need to be able to research and write coherent analyses as well as demonstrating consideration and imagination in your own work.
What can I do after the course?
Close to 80% of our A-level students progress to Higher Education. Alternatively, you could choose to enter employment.
