Course descriptionCourse Description
This course is open to those already working in a Managerial position in Health and Social Care, who want to gain a nationally recognised management qualification. You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in your work place. You will attend approximately 8 sessions at college spread throughout the year.,
What does the course involve?
This level 4 management qualification which includes the broad range of management skills is clearly based in the context of care services for adults. It is designed for managers now regulated for the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) in England and the Care Standards Inspectorate in Wales (CSIW).
It is aimed at individuals who are responsible for the day-to-day management of single care homes and facilities for vulnerable adults. This includes nursing homes and facilities for older people, adults with physical or learning difficulties and adults with mental illness. The qualification will help managers prepare for and meet the emerging regulatory requirements in adult care services.
To gain the qualification learners need to complete 4 mandatory units and 6 optional units.
All of the above will be taught by your College tutor, you will also have an assessor who will assess you at your place of work. The assessor will observe you carrying out a range of activities on approximately six occasions over the course; they will assess you against the City and Guilds standards. It is by these assessments that you achieve your qualification. You will be required to attend college at other times for assessment planning, help with portfolio building, assessment of other evidence and feedback sessions.
