Course - ITQ Level 2

Course description
Where does it lead?
This is a Level 2 vocational qualification. It is suitable for those hoping to start a career that uses IT applications. You could also progress on to a Level 3 course such the ITQ higher levels Access to HE or the BTEC National Diploma. From there you can progress into Employment or continue onto Higher Education.
All units on this course have been allocated a Unit Value (UV) and completion of Level 2 requires 100 UVs.
What does it include?
This is a practical course covering the use of application software. The topics will include:
-Making selective use of IT (explaining uses of IT, finding and evaluation information)
-Spreadsheet software (Using Microsoft Excel)
-Database software (Using Microsoft Access)
-Word-processing software (Using Microsoft Word)
-Website software (Using HTML)
-IT Trouble Shooting (Hardware & Software installation and Troubleshooting)
-Artwork and Imaging software (Using Microsoft Publisher)
Assessment is by practical assignments and includes building a portfolio of work. You will also be able to take additional classes in Numeracy and in English and gain separate qualifications in these subjects.
What do I need to get on to it?
You will need both an interest in and an enthusiasm for using computers and their applications. IT experience is essential. You will be interviewed and given a short test to ensure that you have the aptitude for this fast-paced practical course. A level 1 course in an IT related subject would be an advantage.
You need to be competent in English; either a native English speaker or having spoken English skills to at least Level 1. This will be assessed at interview.
