Course - ITQ Level 1

Course description
Duration of course:
One year. Full-time.
Where does it lead?
The ITQ is a Level 1 vocational qualification. It can start to prepare you for a career, which uses IT. You can progress on to a Level 2 course such as ITQ Level 2. You will also obtain additional qualifications in Literacy and in Numeracy. All units on this course have been allocated a Unit Value (UV) and completion of each level requires a minimum total of 40 UVs for a Level 1.
What does it include?
This is a practical course and is divided into units. You will study the following:
>Make selective use of IT (explaining use of IT, finding and evaluating information)
>Word-processing software (using Microsoft Word)
>Artwork and Imaging software (using Microsoft Publisher)
>Spreadsheet software (using Microsoft Excel)
>Database software (using Microsoft Access)
>Email and Internet (Internet Explorer and Outlook)
>Presentation software (using Microsoft Access)
Assessment is by practical assignments.
You will also have classes in:
>English
>Numeracy
You will have a personal tutor who will provide help with personal development and careers advice.
What do I need to get on to it?
Your English should be at least at Entry level 3.
All applicants will take a language and numeracy assessment and will be interviewed.
If you do not have experience of IT, we will give you a short aptitude test to make sure you will be able to benefit from this course.
