  • Course description A chance for intermediate and advanced students to work on their own projects, be it fine binding, book conservation, box -aking or alternative book structures. Basic materials included.

    What is the course about?

    A course designed to allow students to work on their own projects

    What topics will we cover?

    Students’ own projects, such as: fine binding, book conservation, box making or alternative book structures.

    By the end of this course you should be able to:

    -Select and use appropriate materials
    -Bind books using conservation grade materials and adhesives
    -Prepare tools and sharpen your own blades
    -Work confidently on your own projects

    What level is the course?


    Intermediate and advanced. This course is not suitable for beginners

    How will I be taught?

    Demonstration, group and individual tuition

    Are there any other costs (e.g. certification, materials, equipment or books I need to buy)?

    You will have to bring your own small hand tools, and you will have to pay for certain materials that you use; some are available for purchase at Keeley Street, you may occasionally have to get, for example, leather or specific paper or tools; you will be given advice on this.

    What feedback will I get?

    Your tutor will advise. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

    Will I have a chance to give my views on the course?

    Yes, please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
