Course description A course designed for people who wish to learn interior design skills for the home. It is for anyone who wants to be creative with interiors, build a range of skills to produce finished room schemes for personal and/or professional purposes, to build a portfolio for progression to further study or to gain employment in the industry.
Preparing working designs, developing designs using a range of resources and processes, health and safety, research for projects and planning rooms. You will explore colour, texture, balance and stress, measure and produce site surveys and scale room plans. You will identify a range of themes and schemes suitable for a variety of different needs.
Course Structure:
You will be taught by an experienced tutor in a group of 12-14 students. The tutor will demonstrate a range of techniques and you will be able to practice them before working on your assessed piece.
You will also build up a folder of notes and information to support your practical work. You will need to do some research and assignments in your own time, plus some background reading.
Course resources:
The course takes place in a specialist workshop with plenty of space and storage. All students have access to our fully equipped, state-of-the-art Learning Centres at 3 College Centres. This includes free Internet access.
