Course - HND in Computer Systems Engineering Level 4
ObjectivesThe HND in Computer Systems Engineering at Bromley College aims to develop engineers, with the skills needed to design computer systems for a wide variety of engineering applications. The optional one year industrial placement puts students at a real advantage when seeking employment at the end of their course. Students who wish to continue their studies after completing the HND, have direct entry into either the second or third year of degree programmes at the University of Greenwich and other universities.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements Applicants must be able to meet ONE of the following requirements: One A level or AVCE pass, preferably in a numerate discipline, and four GCSE grades A-C including Maths, English and a Science BTEC National Diploma/Certificate in Engineering/Science/Computer Studies/IT Applications Mature applicants, without the normal entry requirements, are encouraged to apply, and will be accepted if there is evidence of their ability to succeed.

Course descriptionGeneral information
It is now universally recognised that computers are an essential component of modern engineering systems. They are used in such areas as computer aided design, communication networks, and for control in modern manufacturing and engineering systems. In all these areas, and many others, there is a demand for software engineers and those familiar with computer systems. The effectiveness of these engineers is greatly enhanced if they have a full understanding of the larger systems for which computers are sub-systems. It is therefore essential that a computer systems engineer should possess good analytical skills and have an understanding all aspects of computer systems.
