Entry requirementsWho is this course for? Young people aged 16-18. What do I need to get on the course? General entry requirements for AS-Levels are a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A-C including English or maths. In addition, to do this course you must achieve at least a grade C in both GCSE English Language and at least one other written subject (eg humanities, business studies, history, geography, religious education full course, English Literature). Your grade in either English or the other written subject should be a B.,

What will I study?
For unit 1 you study
The origins of the British Empire 1680 + 1780, how overseas trade turned to conquest plus the nature of the slave trade and the struggle to end it 1760 - 1833
You then study
Unit 2
How British rule in India was increasingly challenged by nationalism 1900-47
An AS World History is also offered with alternative options in unit 1 but a shared unit 2.
For A2 you study how England in the seventeenth century fought a bitter civil war plus colonisation and decolonisation in Africa 1870-1981 (coursework).,
