Entry requirementsThis course is for school leavers aged 16-18 years. 4 GCSE’s grade C or above, to include Art or a Design subject; or an equivalent entry level qualification. You will need to present a portfolio of relevant work at interview.

Course descriptionCourse content:
This course is for those students who want to develop their interests in art and design across a range of subject disciplines; and for those who are progressing form a First Diploma.
The course consists of 18 units: • Visual Recording in Art & Design • Materials, Techniques and Processes in Art & Design • Ideas and Concepts in Art & Design • Design Methods in Art and Design • Contextual Influences in Art & Design There are 13 additional units specialist units tailored to a Graphic Design or Fashion Design and Textiles pathways. • You will learn about: • Painting, Drawing and Design methods • Graphic Design • Fashion & Textiles • 3D Design • Photography & Animation • Health & Safety • The work of other artists, designers and crafts people. This course includes opportunities for Key skills in Information Technology, Literacy and Application of number.
Course Structure:
The course is delivered in six or twelve weekly projects.

All students have access to Learning Centres at College Centres. This includes free Internet access.
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous throughout the year.
Next step:
Progression to a level 4 BTEC Higher National Certificate in Graphic Design, Higher National Certificate in Photography or on to a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.
