Pass in one or more appropriate A levels, AVCE, Advanced GNVQ, BTEC National Certificate or Diploma and English and Maths GCSE at C or above or equivalent. NVQ L3/4 in Care. Advanced Apprenticeship in Care. APL available for some nursing, social work and RMA qualifications. Each applicant will be assessed on merit at interview.

Course descriptionGeneral information
This part-time course is intended for employees or employers in management in the adult care sector who need or wish to gain a higher qualification. This course is a replacement for The Registered Managers Award (RMA) with the first year being equivalent to an NVQ level 4 RMA (Adult) and the second year equivalent to level 5.
The programme has been structured around management themes, identified by the National Occupational Standards - Managing the Care Environment Managing Human Resources Managing the Organisation.The course has been developed in co-operation with the Registered Nursing Home Association (RNHA) and the overall policy, direction and quality assurance of the programme was guided by a steering group with representation from CSCI/Skills for Care. It meets the needs of the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI/Skills for Care and the government's modernisation agenda).

The programme is structured as a part time course involving attendance at college for one regular day per week spread over two years and one semester.
Teaching and assessment
The qualification is assessed through work related coursework. Varied forms of assessment including portfolio, reports, investigations, essays and case studies. 100% internal assessment.
Progression
After successful completion of the Foundation Degree, students can progress on to the final year BA/BSc degree at the University of Greenwich. The degree is specifically designed to enable you to acquire an equivalent qualification to the Registered Managers Award, enabling you to secure employment appropriate to your qualifications throughout the health and social care sector.
