Entry requirements
Who is this course for? This programme is for students aged 16-18 who have recently arrived in this country or other speakers of other languages needing more English prior to joining higher level courses. What do I need to get on the course? You must be aged 16-18 on 31 August 2009 There are no official entrance requirements for this course except that you are willing to attend class regularly and want to improve your skills in the three subject areas.

Academic title
You will be assessed in English. mMaths and Information Technology. In the final term you will be assessed by different exams, such as: e.g.,
# English: University of Cambridge Skills for LIFE ESOL Certificates,
# Maths: AQA Numeracy, National Numeracy test or GCSE
# Information technology: possibly CLAIT or an Entry level certificate

Course description
What will I study?
This course has been designed specifically for students who have recently arrived in the UK, or are speakers of other languages and need extra support with English to progress on to higher level study or employment. Tutorial support will be provided.
Subjects include:
# English: reading, writing, listening and speaking
# Maths
# Information Technology
# Citizenship
What can I do after the course?
If you do well on this course, you can progress on to the next level of English or a range of other subjects, through GCSEs, A Levels and vocational courses.
How do I get on the course?
