Course - Entry to Employment (E2E) in Fitness, Leisure & Sport

  • Entry requirements There are no official entry requirements for the course. However, all applicants have to attend an interview and take the Colleges initial assessment. The course leader will then advise you on the outcome of you application.
  • Course description Duration of Course:
    30 weeks
    3 days a week at college with work experience.
     
    What is Entry to Employment?
    Entry 2 Employment is a programme targeted at 16 - 18 year olds who are not currently involved in employment, education or training. It aims to help those young people gain skills in order to enter Further Education, an Apprenticeship or Employment. You will be eligible to apply for EMA (Educational Maintenance Allowance) in addition to a contribution towards travel.
     
    What does it include?

    This course is aimed at students wishing to begin a career within the sport industry or simply develop their interest in sports.
     
    The Entry to Employment programme includes the full City & Guilds Certificate in Sport and Leisure Level 1 units:
     
    -Investigating the Sport and Recreation industry
    -Establish working relationships with customers and colleagues
    -Assist in the planning, delivery and evaluation of an activity
    -Investigating health, lifestyle and the human body
    -Investigating safe working practices
    -Exercise & Fitness
    -Sports
     
    Additional courses included in the Entry to Employment programme that you will study are:
     
    -First Aid    
    -National Pool Lifeguard Qualifications*
    -Health & Safety    
    -Personal Development
    -Personal Safety & Conflict Resolution    
    -Looking Good
    -Work Skills
        
    *NB: For the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification you need to be a strong swimmer. This is not a compulsory unit.
     
    All students are expected to go on a compulsory weekend residential aimed at team building.
    Students are placed within the Fitness, Leisure and Sports industry e.g. private gyms and leisure centres to gain vital experience of working in these environments.
     
    Where does it lead?
    With our support, on successful completion of the course you have the option to look for employment or continue in a Further Education course at Level 2.
