The course is suitable for students who have attended a beginners’ course or have some experience of drawing and painting.
Course descriptionCourse content:
This course is for people with some experience of art who wish to develop their techniques using different media including pencil, charcoal, water colours.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Use paint, including water colours, charcoal, pen and ink, pencil, colour wash, lino cuts and more
- Manipulate these media and gain techniques to do so
- Draw with some accuracy
- Use perspective
- Apply colour theory
- Basic anatomy for figure drawing
- Draw negative space.
.There will be a small charge of £2.00 for model fees if one is used. You may wish to bring an apron/overall for painting.
Course Structure:
Practical, some use of materials, some theory, techniques, methods, some imaginative, mostly from life, may include life drawing using naked models. Summer term - field trips to local common for water colour painting.

The art pavilions are equipped with drawing boards/easels.
